Entrepreneurship & Small Business | WITTENBORG UNIVERSITY

This study programme is structured within our module/block system, which maintains a balance of core business subject modules, specialist subject modules and practical experience modules. Throughout the programming, Personal Development Plan, Tutoring and Foreign Languages represent the thread of skills and competency learning.

Phase 1, is a general first year, focusing on theory required for all related management courses.

Phase 2, is a separate course of modules specifically related to the chosen field as well as more general modules.

The focus of year 3, is planning and many modules will be examined through cases and planning e.g. a Marketing Plan for the module Marketing. The year also includes the completion of a Business Plan and other specific Entrepreneurship Modules

Phase 3 modules, or the "Final Year", here students study the strategic modules of management, fulfill their special Work Preparation Module, as well as complete the year with their research assignment, the graduation dissertation. Students are also given the chance to test the robustness of their Business Plan in Business Start-ups and Business Plan Execution, as well as instigate a full business start-up in their Work Placement module.

The programme can be followed in either 3-year ‘fast-track’ (intensive) or slower 4-year modus.

Direct Entry to Final Year

Students with successful study experience equivalent to 160 European Credits in a related business or economic field are able to enter directly into the Final year programme (80 credits). The examination and graduation board will decide on entry based on credit transcripts and qualifications presented.

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

As an international applicant, you will also be required to demonstrate sufficient results of one of these tests:

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade B (173-175)

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade C (169-172)

IELTS test minimum overall band score of 6.0

TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 internet-based, and minimum subscore of 290 for speaking & Writing)

Greek high school diploma (Apolytirio Genikou Lykeio), with a general grade of at least 10, preferably with economics/mathematics.

Starting dates: August 27, 2018 – October 15, 2018 – December 3, 2018, February 11, 2019 – April 1, 2019 – May 20, 2019. 

You can apply until 2-4 weeks before the entry date of choice. In case you do not apply before the deadline, your application will be automatically changed into application for enrollment for the next block, unless you desire otherwise.

As a EU student, you encouraged to find their own accommodation.

You can however opt for Wittenborg’s own accommodation, if available.

Wittenborg offers accommodation in a number of different places, all close to the university: A. Shared apartments: 3-5 students share an apartment or house. B. Campus accommodation: students have their own room within a campus complex, and share kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Currently, students may stay a maximum of one calendar year at any of the accommodation(s) provided by Wittenborg, to assure rooms are made available for newly arriving students. Wittenborg is working hard to increase its own campus accommodation!

Wittenborg sees the possible professions of a graduate from the Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship in four inter-related sections, between which there is often and natural overlap:

- The Entrepreneur: this is someone who is committed to starting businesses and companies from the beginning and making them a success.

- The Independent self employed business person: this is a person who directs and manages a company. This could be a family driven business, or a business person who buys and takes over an existing business. This can also be an entrepreneur who has started a business through innovation and remains directing and managing that company.

- The second in command: this extremely important entrepreneur is the most common non-executive entrepreneur in small or medium size business.

The Corporate “Intrapreneur”: this entrepreneurial role is becoming increasingly important within companies and organizations, as well as non-profit and governmental organizations, as they are forced to change, develop and innovate in the modern economy and business environment.

The IBA programme is accredited by NVAO & by FIBAA. These degrees give direct entry into the Master of Science programmes.
