Pre-Master / Master of Science Combination | WITTENBORG UNIVERSITY

This 18 Month Master of Science 'Combi Package' combines the first semester of the MBA programme with one of the Master of Science programmes and is aimed at students who either require a pre-master, or who simply would like to gain a foundation in master studies before they start their MSc.

This combination programme is for students wishing to study the Master of Science in International Hospitality, International, Tourism or International Event Management and require or would like to study a ½ year Master preparation course that will fully prepare them for their chosen MSc programme. Students only have to choose the Master of Science pathway at the end of the first semester, allowing complete flexibility.

Students can choose one of the following MSc pathways, after Semester 1:

Semester 2 & 3: Master of Science International Event Management.

Core Modules: Management Strategy in a Global Business Environment - Globalization, Society and Culture- Events Policy and Practice - Event Project Management

Options - two from: International Event Marketing, Sponsorship and Fundraising - Ethical and Social Responsibility: Theory and Application - Risk and Crisis Management - Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship - Research Methods / Final project

Semester 2 & 3: Master of Science International Hospitality Management.

Core Modules: Critical Perspectives in Hospitality Management - Management Strategy in a Global Business Environment - Managing Resources in Hospitality and Tourism Operations- Globalization, Society and Culture

Options - two from: International Hospitality Development - Contemporary Issues in Cruise Management- Human Resource Strategy in Multi Unit Service Organizations - Ethical and Social Responsibility: Theory and Application- Research Methods / Final project

Semester 2 & 3: Master of Science International Tourism Management.

Core Modules: Management Strategy in a Global Business Environment - Globalization, Society and Culture - Critical Perspectives in Tourism Management - Managing Resources in Hospitality and Tourism Operations

Options - two from: Contemporary Issues in Cruise Management - Travel and Visual Culture – Consultancy - Ethical and Social Responsibility: Theory and Application- Research Methods / Final project

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

As an international applicant, you will also be required to demonstrate sufficient results of one of these tests:

IELTS 6.5 overall, 6.0 in writing or:

TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 internet-based, and minimum sub score of 290 for speaking & Writing)

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade B (173-175)

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade C (169-172)

This Pre-Master and MSc Combi programme, prepares students for entry into the Master of Science Programmes. It is for students who have no directly relevant Bachelor degree; little direct work experience (in a relevant field of business);

However - also students who are eligible for direct entry into the MSc programme can take the opportunity of the Master of Science 'Combi Package' to fully prepare themselves for the MSc programme. This is especially useful for students who still need to decide on the MSc pathway, choosing between Hospitality, Tourism, or Event Management

As a EU student, you encouraged to find their own accommodation, you can however opt for Wittenborg’s own accommodation, if available.

Wittenborg offers accommodation in a number of different places, all close to the university: A. Shared apartments: 3-5 students share an apartment or house. B. Campus accommodation: students have their own room within a campus complex, and share kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Currently, students may stay a maximum of one calendar year at any of the accommodation(s) provided by Wittenborg, to assure rooms are made available for newly arriving students. Wittenborg is working hard to increase its own campus accommodation!

The Master of Science is aimed at a range of students and practitioners from different backgrounds. Although the MSc programme will be suited to business professionals from a broad range of business administration fields, in all sectors and branches, it has been specifically designed for those who wish to pursue senior management positions within the events industry, or as preparation for further study in the field, such as a PhD in the field of events, or in the hospitality management, tourism management or other service sector management areas.
