On a global scale the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) forecasts an increase in the number of international arrivals in the region of 1.6 billion by the year 2020. As such the industry needs people who understand the significance, complexity and dynamics of a diverse evolving, developing and growing sector.

The MSc International Tourism Management programme, at Wittenborg University is aimed at a broad spectrum of students and practitioners from a variety of backgrounds. It has been designed for those who wish to pursue senior management positions within the tourism industry or as preparation for further study in international tourism, such as a PhD.

Tuition fee per year:  €9.600 

Full-time students attend workshops on three days per week from October to May. The modules are delivered intensively over consecutive days in the so-called 'block format', which means that each module has 6 days of teaching split into two blocks of 3 days. Teaching methods include group work, case studies, presentations, and live projects. The course is delivered through a variety of approaches including lectures, presentations, tutorials and case studies, with an emphasis on interactive learning. Each module is taught by two lecturers, one from the University of Brighton and one from Wittenborg University. The full course is taught in Apeldoorn.

Some modules may be delivered intensively over several consecutive days. Teaching methods include group work, case studies, presentations, and live projects. The course is delivered through a variety of approaches including lectures, presentations, tutorials and case studies, with an emphasis on interactive learning.

Core Modules: Management Strategy in a Global Business Environment - Globalization, Society and Culture - Research Methods / Final Project.

Programme main syllabus:  Critical Perspectives in Tourism Management - Managing Resources in Hospitality and Tourism Operations - Globalization, Society and Culture.

2 Options from: Contemporary Issues in Cruise Management - Travel and Visual Culture – Consultancy - Ethical and Social Responsibility: Theory and Application.

This programme is taught together by Wittenborg University and the University of Brighton!

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

As an international applicant, you will also be required to demonstrate sufficient results of one of these tests:

IELTS 6.5 overall, 6.0 in writing or:

TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 internet-based, and minimum sub score of 290 for speaking & Writing)

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade B (173-175)

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade C (169-172)

- Bachelor degree

- Students with non-relevant qualifications may be asked to complete a short portfolio prior to starting the course. 

- Other applicants with extensive industry experience will be considered on an individual basis.

As a EU student, you encouraged to find their own accommodation, you can however opt for Wittenborg’s own accommodation, if available.

Wittenborg offers accommodation in a number of different places, all close to the university: A. Shared apartments: 3-5 students share an apartment or house. B. Campus accommodation: students have their own room within a campus complex, and share kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Currently, students may stay a maximum of one calendar year at any of the accommodation(s) provided by Wittenborg, to assure rooms are made available for newly arriving students. Wittenborg is working hard to increase its own campus accommodation!
