Internationally oriented, this course brings together the academic study of tourism and the practical development of management skills to give you a balanced start to your career. This is an academic course, with however a strong practical relevance.

The IBA in Tourism Management will take either three or four years to complete, depending on your academic progress and drive. It is designed to cover everything you might need for a career in tourism management.

The style of teaching will differ according to module, but it will variously involve lectures, seminars, group exercises, case studies and student presentations. The group work will gradually reduce over the three years as you learn to work more independently, culminating in your final project or dissertation.

Although you will in part be assessed by essays and exams, we will also test your ability to work in teams, make presentations and appraise the work of fellow students. These methods of assessment are intended to reflect real-life management practices.

Transferable skills such as leadership, numeracy, assertiveness and creativity are developed throughout the course.

The compulsory work placement module in a major company in the tourism industry, offers you a great opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the tourism field, which will improve your employment prospects following graduation.

The programme can be followed in either 3-year ‘fast-track’ (intensive) or slower 4-year modus.

Top Up - Direct Entry to the Final Year

Students with successful study experience equivalent to 160 European Credits in a related business or economic field, are able to enter directly into the Final year programme (80 credits). The examination and graduation board will decide on entry based on credit transcripts and qualifications presented.

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

As an international applicant, you will also be required to demonstrate sufficient results of one of these tests:

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade B (173-175)

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade C (169-172)

IELTS test minimum overall band score of 6.0

TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 internet-based, and minimum subscore of 290 for speaking & Writing)

Greek high school diploma (Apolytirio Genikou Lykeio), with a general grade of at least 10, preferably with economics/mathematics.

As a EU student, you encouraged to find their own accommodation, you can however opt for Wittenborg’s own accommodation, if available.

Wittenborg offers accommodation in a number of different places, all close to the university: A. Shared apartments: 3-5 students share an apartment or house. B. Campus accommodation: students have their own room within a campus complex, and share kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Currently, students may stay a maximum of one calendar year at any of the accommodation(s) provided by Wittenborg, to assure rooms are made available for newly arriving students. Wittenborg is working hard to increase its own campus accommodation!

As a tourism graduate you can work for several types of businesses and organizations around the world, such as: Tour Operators - Online Travel Agents - Transport Companies - Accommodation providers such as hotels and apartment resorts - Tourism Information Centers - Research Training & Consultancy Companies - Government Bodies etc.

The course is also designed in such a way that you will be more than equipped to start your own business.

The IBA programme is accredited by NVAO & by FIBAA. These degrees give direct entry into the Master of Science programmes.
