All over the world, the key to successful business is increasingly dependent on the performance of its people, known as the company’s Human Resources, or Human Capital.

The Bachelor’s degree programme International Human Resource Management is a unique programme in the Netherlands and offers classes with national and international students. Therefore, internships and assignments are internationally-orientated. This Bachelor’s Degree covers all essential areas of International Human Resource Management, such as psychology, business economics, talent recruitment and people management.

First year

During the first year of International Human Resource Management, you will get in-depth knowledge of the relationship between human behaviour, work and organizations and human resource at organizations. You will acquire knowledge of business economics, organizations, work design and human talent development.

Second year

The emphasis during the second year of IHRM lies on understanding human resource management in relation to business disciplines and principles. You will also develop your research and basic communication skills.

Third and fourth year

After gaining in-depth knowledge during your first two years about IHRM, you will learn how to approach HR from a strategic angle and how to guide organization through periods of change. During your third year, you will also learn the principles of the new work environment on e.g. leadership, organization, human resource and advisory skills.

During your fourth and final year, you will complete an internship and write your Bachelor thesis within an international oriented organization.

Fast track (2 years)

The International Human Resource management course is also offered as a short degree program, this is a transition program for students who already started bachelor education in another country at another university.

Entrance to the short degree programme requires:

A minimum of three years of higher education in a discipline related to and including Human Resource Management

An intake interview (via Skype, telephone, or face to face) is part of the admission procedure. The result of this assessment is final and binding.

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

As an international applicant, you will also be required to demonstrate sufficient results of one of these tests:

IELTS test (minimum overall band score of 6.0, and minimum subscore of 6.0 for speaking)

TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 internet-based, and minimum subscore of 20 for speaking)

CAE (Cambridge Advanced Certificate), or CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)

Greek high school diploma (Apolityrio Genikou Lykeio), with a general grade of at least 10.

Applying for the September courses of the academic year 2018-2019 will be possible until the application deadline of July 1, 2018.

In case you have not obtained your secondary school diploma yet, you can already apply by submitting your current grade list.

We encourage European students to find their own accommodation.

However, in case you would like to have everything arranged in time and want to immerse yourself in international student life, we offer the possibility to reserve a room in one of our international student houses. In all three cities we have contracts with the local student housing associations. They provide Saxion with accommodation with rooms, which may vary in size. The rooms are all single rooms and furnished with basic facilities like bed, desk, chair and cupboard. All accommodations have an internet connection. The bathroom, toilet and kitchen need to be shared with other international Saxion students, max. 6 students share common facilities.

You can apply for a room as soon as you have been admitted or conditionally admitted. The deadline for applying for Saxion accommodation is 1 May 2018. After this date, it is no longer possible to reserve a room and you will be put on a waiting list.

Bachelor programmes: total rental fee: € 5,000 (11.5 months). You are allowed to pay your rental fee in installments.

Upon graduation, you will receive the title 'Bachelor of Human Resource Management'. This will provide you with excellent access opportunities to the international labour market.

The business world can expect from you a thorough understanding of business-oriented Human Resources and an adequate translation of the international (corporate) strategy into relevant and modern HR policies. You will be a well-trained professional with in-depth knowledge of change processes and a broad set of intercultural communication skills.

Possible positions in organizations worldwide are: HR manager; Organizational development advisor; Talent development manager; Change manager for organizations worldwide.

Upon graduation, you will receive the title Bachelor of Arts. Would you like to continue your studies? That’s possible too. You will be eligible to do your Master’s degree for example in HRM, Business Administration, or Human Resource Development, at universities in and outside Europe. If you want to your master  abroad, you can usually start straightaway.  If you choose to further your studies at a research university in the Netherlands, a pre-master may be required.
