Electricity is everywhere and its applications are infinite. This program offers you in the course of your studies to choose one of the following two specializations:

- “Electrical Power and Automation” (EPA). This involves generating and transporting energy and controlling of energy flows. Renewable energy also is an increasingly important area. Another field is the total automation of high-tech production processes, from product development to advice.

- “Electronic Information Engineering” (EIE). This is the field of low-power, low-voltage devices: mobile phones, blue-ray and automotive electronics. In this field, hardware is always combined with software. Sensors and actuators are very important and can be found everywhere.

The 4 year course Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Saxion, can be the start of a great career. A lot of people are working in businesses related to this study and many interesting jobs in this field are available at this moment.

The Electrical and Electronic Engineering curriculum, revolves around knowledge, skills and competences for the hardware and software sectors. It also includes practical application of theory, during 2 semesters at a company in our Global network.

Programme content: Analog electronics and communications, Digital electronics and embedded systems, Design and research method, Energy generation and control, Software development and hardware production, Social skills and personal development.

Fast track (2 years)

For entrance to the short degree programme, you need:

A Greek high school diploma (Apolityrio Genikou Lykeio), with a general grade of at least 10.  A grade of at least 15 in one or more of the following subjects is needed for successfully following this course: Mathematics & Physics.

A number of years (1 tot 4) of Bachelor studies in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) education with theoretical knowledge either in Greece, or abroad, courses lab work and doing projects. Depending on your results and the level of the material you studied, you can get admittance in the 2, 3 or 4 semester Short Degree Program (SDP) of EEE.

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

As an international applicant, you will also be required to demonstrate sufficient results of one of these tests:

IELTS test (minimum overall band score of 6.0, and minimum subscore of 6.0 for speaking)

TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 internet-based, and minimum subscore of 20 for speaking)

CAE (Cambridge Advanced Certificate), or CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)

The students’ qualifications will be assessed by the Admission Officer of the specific Course on the basis of provided Diplomas, Curriculum Vitae, a letter of motivation and if necessary an Intake Interview, on location or via Skype.

Applying for the September courses of the academic year 2018-2019 will be possible until the application deadline of July 1, 2018.

In case you have not obtained your secondary school diploma yet, you can already apply by submitting your current grade list.

We encourage European students to find their own accommodation.

However, in case you would like to have everything arranged in time and want to immerse yourself in international student life, we offer the possibility to reserve a room in one of our international student houses. In all three cities we have contracts with the local student housing associations. They provide Saxion with accommodation with rooms, which may vary in size. The rooms are all single rooms and furnished with basic facilities like bed, desk, chair and cupboard. All accommodations have an internet connection. The bathroom, toilet and kitchen need to be shared with other international Saxion students, max. 6 students share common facilities.

You can apply for a room as soon as you have been admitted or conditionally admitted. The deadline for applying for Saxion accommodation is 1 May 2018. After this date, it is no longer possible to reserve a room and you will be put on a waiting list.

Bachelor programmes: 15 August 2018 – 1 August 2019, total rental fee: € 5,000 (11.5 months). You are allowed to pay your rental fee in installments.

After completion of this study, you can find work all over the world as a hardware/software designer/engineer, sales representative, or quality engineer. Big  international electronic giant multinationals offer many excellent job opportunities. There are also a lot of medium size and smaller companies working in the electrical & electronic field, looking to hire graduates of this study.

With a bachelors diploma from Saxion University of Applied Sciences, you can continue doing a Master’s programme. If you want to do this abroad, you can usually start straightaway. If you choose to further your studies at a research university in the Netherlands, a pre-master may be required.
