Do you have a broad interest in interactive media, or are you passionate about creating games?  Then this is your study !

As the name indicates, CMGT will teach you everything you want to know about Creative Media and Game Technologies. This is an enormously wide field of study. After a broad-based orientation phase, it is up to you to decide which area you want to specialize in:

- Game Artist

- Media Artist

- Experience designer (Media and/or Games)

- Media Engineer

- Game Engineer

Year 1 and 2

During the first academic year, you get a chance to experience with several roles, which are: artist, designer and engineer. You will make a provisional choice for a role that seems to suits you best. After the first year you will choose a definitive role and depending on your preference, will either move more in the direction of interactive media in general, or specialize in games.

CMGT initially has a wide-ranging set-up. You are familiarized with the various roles and challenged to experiment with your own role. You will have the opportunity to experiment and make mistakes.

After the first year, you will continue to specialize in one of these profiles: - Game Artist - Media Artist - Experience designer (Media and/or Games) - Media Engineer - Game Engineer

The Artist is a talented illusionist. The most important role of an artist is to create content that really excites the user. You will be taught subjects like - Content creation - Concept Art – Animation - 2D, 3D design- Video and Visual FX - Visual storytelling.

The Experience Designer is the creative jack-of-all-trades, who invents and develops experiences that create value for the user. You will therefore be taught important "Artist-as-Engineer" subjects and specific design subjects such a - Concept design - Gamification - Serious Gaming – Marketing - Game design - User experience - Interaction design.

The Engineer is a structured realist. You are especially good at the technical realization of interactive media and games. You will be taught subjects like: - Computer programming - Game engines – Processing - Web technology.

Year 3 and 4

In your third and fourth year, you will apply your knowledge and skills in practice. You are free to choose you area of interest. In your third year, you will do an internship and minor. You are free to make your own choice. Here, you will have the opportunity to specialize further.

Fast track (1-2 years)

If you did not study at a partner university your previous education will be evaluated. The content of this education must have an overlap of about 70% with our Creative Media and Game Technologies programme. Depending on your previous education, it will be decided if you can be accepted for the SDP, if it will be a one, one or two year programme and what the content of the programme will be.

You need to submit a CV, testimonials, a letter of motivation and an interactive portfolio (website, weblog, Flickr album or something similar) to prove your previously acquired technical skills and the ability to design. You also need to submit a list of subjects you studied with a short explanation of these subjects. By means of an interview (via Skype) your application will be discussed. If possible you can do the intake assessment also at Saxion.

At the end of the interview you will know if you are accepted or not and if you can do the SDP in one or two years. The result is final and binding.

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

As an international applicant, you will also be required to demonstrate sufficient results of one of these tests:

IELTS test (minimum overall band score of 6.0, and minimum subscore of 6.0 for speaking)

TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 internet-based, and minimum subscore of 20 for speaking)

CAE (Cambridge Advanced Certificate), or CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)

Greek high school diploma (Apolityrio Genikou Lykeio), with a general grade of at least 10.  A grade of at least 15 in one or more of the following subjects is needed for successfully following this course: Mathematics & Physics.

The students’ qualifications will be assessed by the Admission Officer of the specific Course on the basis of provided Diplomas, Curriculum Vitae, a letter of motivation and if necessary an Intake Interview.

Applying for the September courses of the academic year 2018-2019 will be possible until the application deadline of July 1, 2018.

In case you have not obtained your secondary school diploma yet, you can already apply by submitting your current grade list.

We encourage European students to find their own accommodation.

However, in case you would like to have everything arranged in time and want to immerse yourself in international student life, we offer the possibility to reserve a room in one of our international student houses. In all three cities we have contracts with the local student housing associations. They provide Saxion with accommodation with rooms, which may vary in size. The rooms are all single rooms and furnished with basic facilities like bed, desk, chair and cupboard. All accommodations have an internet connection. The bathroom, toilet and kitchen need to be shared with other international Saxion students, max. 6 students share common facilities.

You can apply for a room as soon as you have been admitted or conditionally admitted. The deadline for applying for Saxion accommodation is 1 May 2018. After this date, it is no longer possible to reserve a room and you will be put on a waiting list.

Bachelor programmes: 15 August 2018 – 1 August 2019, total rental fee: € 5,000 (11.5 months). You are allowed to pay your rental fee in installments.

The professional field you will enter, is very wide and incredibly international, with a lot of excellent job opportunities all over the world. There are many well-known big companies where you can get started, but there are also exciting small companies you could join. With CMGT you can also start your own business.

With a bachelors diploma from Saxion University of Applied Sciences, you can continue doing a Master’s programme. If you want to do this abroad, you can usually start straightaway. If you choose to further your studies at a research university in the Netherlands, a pre-master may be required.
