On account of the port of Rotterdam and its excellent transportation infrastructure, the Netherlands is one of the logistic and distribution centers of the world.

In this programme, you learn how to plan and organize production, transportation and warehousing processes. This study programme focuses on the technique of international storage and transport of goods by road, train, river or sea.

If you are more interested in the financial aspects and marketing of logistics processes, our bachelor’s programme “International Logistics Management” would probably suit you better.

At the beginning of the first year, a practice week is organized. During this week, you will be familiarized with the different focal points within the field of logistics, which include healthcare logistics, production logistics, event logistics and physical distribution.

The first year includes the above starting Project and courses like: Introduction into Logistics, Mathematics, Cross Cultural Management, Statistics, Management Accounting, Warehousing, Inventory Management, Service Operations Management, Transport Management, Global Economics, Marketing, Basic Principles of Law etc.

In the second year you deal with (training) courses and projects, specific to logistics or transport. You will finish these two years with an industry project on transport and distribution. Examples of courses are: Automation Techniques, Warehousing/Material Handling, Operation Research, Transport Systems, Stock Management & Data Analysis, Operations Management, Cross Cultural Management, Trade and Transport Law & Customs etc.

The third year is a combination of working practice and studying at Breda University of Applied Sciences. You carry out two work placements, both for three months at, for example, a production company, or wholesale companies. These placements allow you to put the gained knowledge into practice during your research. Your placement will be at an international company in the Netherlands, or abroad, where the business language is English. In the second part of that year you will deepen your theoretical knowledge. Examples of the courses are: Logistic Information Systems, ERP Manufacturing, Network Logistics, Quality Management, Port Logistics

In the fourth year you take a number of specialist classes and work on your graduation assignment for an international company in the Netherlands or abroad, where the business language is English.

Fast track (3 years)

Basic entry requirements are: a Greek high school diploma (Apolytirio Genikou Lykei), with a general grade of at least 10. The fast track is available for Greek students dependent on their high school diploma scores and other factors. A grade of at least 17 in one or more of the following subjects is preferable for successfully following this courses: Mathematics/Statistics and Economics.

All international applications will be decided on a case by case basis, to ensure the standard of the diploma will be appropriate for the fast track.

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

As an international applicant, you will be required to demonstrate sufficient results of one of these tests:

CAE (Cambridge Advanced Certificate), or CPE (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)

IELTS test (minimum overall band score of 6.0, and minimum subscore of 6.0 for speaking)

TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 internet-based, and minimum subscore of 20 for speaking)

Applying for the academic year of 2018-2019 are possible from 1 October 2017 until the application deadline of 1 May 2018.

We advise you to apply before May 1. Breda University of Applied Sciences has the right to refuse applications by students which meet the admission requirements, but which are sent after May 1.  

Breda has a growing number of students, which is why accommodation in Breda can be scarce. Unfortunately, Breda University of Applied Sciences has no campus or student rooms of its own and, therefore, it will be your own responsibility to find accommodation in Breda. Rental prices for a student room in Breda vary from €300 to €500 per calendar month. However, you will most commonly find rooms to rent for around € 400. Make sure you book a room in time (preferably in the early spring), so you have the best chances to book the room that suits your wishes. Unfurnished rooms can be cheaper to rent than furnished ones and since most rooms in the Breda are unfurnished, you may need to furnish your room yourself. This doesn’t have to be expensive as there are many DIY stores, second hand stores and second hand websites and Facebook pages.

Upon completion of this programme, you will know exactly how goods or services can be conveyed from A to B in the best, cheapest, safest and fastest possible way. You can start your career for example as a logistics analyst, planner, ICT consultant, purchase manager, supply chain manager, or project manager. Transport companies, shipping companies, production companies, multinationals and many other organizations around the world, are always on the lookout for logistics talents.

 Breda University of Applied Sciences has a cooperation with Cranfield University in Bedfordshire (Cranfield), United Kingdom, the No.1 education in the field of Logistics in Great Britain, which means that our logistic graduates can do their one-year MSc in “Logistics and Supply Chain Management”. It is a full-time Master of 11 months. A pre-master course is not necessary.

To continue one’s studies for a Master of Science at different Dutch universities after having finished Breda University of Applied Sciences International Logistics Management, you have to have done the Pre-master programme “Strategic Business Management and Marketing”, that runs in your 4th year of the course.
