The course Industrial Engineering & Management teaches you how to use technology, management and economy in such a way that you will be able to improve production processes, or to make organizations profitable, and/or more sustainable. With your problem-solving abilities, you are able to (re)design, improve and optimize production resources and processes by applying the needed technology, economy and management.

During the first and second academic year, you will develop a broad base of knowledge in technology, (business) economy, organization and management. Collaborating with the professional practice is the focal point from day one. You and your classmates will work together in project groups on assignments from the business sector relating to process optimization, quality management, and maintenance and asset management.
This will introduce you to your future professional field.

In the second year, you will deepen your knowledge of the company processes and you will work on more complex projects from the professional field, with a focus on the environment and sustainability as well. You could collaborate on a research project about the sustainable use and maintenance of wind farms off the Dutch coast. 

In the third year, you will do an internship at a company in the Netherlands, or abroad. For example, you could do an internship at a company where you will analyze the impact on the production process, the price and the quality of packaging material, if the company switches to biodegradable and environmentally friendly plastic. Additionally, you will follow a minor that deepens or broadens your knowledge. Finally, you will conduct a research project in preparation for your final internship.

In your final year, you will conduct a graduation research and you will demonstrate that you are ready for the profession field.

You can make the course as international as you want. You can follow an internship or a minor abroad. The Zeeland University of Applied Sciences has an extensive network of partner schools and companies, which offers you plenty of opportunity to go abroad. An international experience is a big plus for CV and it will increase your chances of getting a job anywhere in the world.

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

The level required for admission should be an equivalent of the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.0, such as:

Cambridge Proficiency (CPE)

Cambridge Advanced (CAE) Grade C (180 - 184)

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade B (173-175)

Cambridge Lower (FCE) Grade C (169-172)

Greek high school diploma (Apolytirio Genikou Lykeio), with a general grade of at least 10 and a grade of at least 16 for mathematics, physics, or economics.

Applying for the academic year of 2018-2019 will be possible from 1 October 2017 until the application deadline of 1 May 2018.

In case you have not obtained your secondary school diploma yet, you can already apply by submitting your current grade list.

Zeeland University of Applied Sciences has partnered with housing cooperation APV to make it easier for students to find a place to live.

Once you have registered at Zeeland University of Applied Sciences, you can start booking a room with APV, which offers student accommodations in Vlissingen and Middelburg. Prices start from €250,- per month all in and increase depending on the size of the room and required comfort. Most student houses are near the city centre and within cycling distance of Zeeland University of Applied Sciences.

Make sure you book a room in time (preferably in the early spring), so you have the best chances to book the room that suits your wishes. You have several options regarding to renting a room. Accommodation varies from single units, to three to nine-bedroom apartments with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. 

There is a large demand for Industrial Engineers in the Netherlands and abroad. After your graduation, you can work (with or without a few years of experience) for example as (asset) manager, technical business manager, or adviser.  

As an asset manager, it is your responsibility to make the right choice with respect to the (often) large, expensive and advanced assets of your company. You will be responsible for the purchasing, complete life cycle and maintenance of these assets.

As technical business manager, you will manage the people and the resources in the company where you work. You will set goals, manage and attract assets, establish partnerships and you will ensure that the goals are met. 
As an internal or external adviser, you will research and analyze the processes and the corporate culture of organizations and you will give advice to make them more effective and/or more efficient. Based on your analysis, you will find creative solutions and you will draw up a project plan to improve processes. Additionally, you will help the client to put your advice into practice. You will manage projects or advise management about their role in implementing the suggested changes and you will ensure that there is sufficient support.

With a Bachelors diploma from Zeeland University of Applied Sciences, you can continue doing a Master’s programme. If you want to do this abroad, you can usually start straightaway. If you choose to further your studies at a research university in the Netherlands, a pre-master is required. As of 2019 Zeeland University of Applied Sciences intends to start with the new Master Delta River programme.
