This course trains you to become a specialist in the fields of business, marketing communication, corporate communication and advertising in an international environment.

What is the best marketing strategy? What kind of advertising campaign does a certain product need? How can a company get more media attention? In the Communication degree course, taught at Arnhem Business School, you will learn how to answer these questions and more.

You learn to apply the theory you are taught in the course to real-life practice. You will solve real communication problems and work on actual international cases for clients. You conduct research in the fields of identity, image building or customer satisfaction. Graduation assignments often involve writing a plan for strategic marketing, strategic branding, public relations, internal communications or online communications.

The location of this course within the internationally renowned “Arnhem Business School”, ensures you build a solid business foundation for your communication studies. We have top-class lecturers, we maintain close links with professionals working in the field and our courses are given in an inspiring international setting.

During your studies, you will be part of the Arnhem Business School community with students from around 60 different countries. Since this course has an international focus, you will study in English and take another language of your choice: Dutch, French, German or Spanish. This ensures that you graduate with a thorough knowledge of other cultures and languages.

Lectures are held in small groups of about 30 students, ensuring a hands-on, personal approach to your education. Lecturers from various countries teach the internationally-oriented segments of the course. Foreign guest lecturers are also frequently invited to give presentations about special topics.

1st year exemptions may be granted for subjects you have already taken in higher education. They must closely resemble our subjects. The Board of Admissions will review your application and announce its decision after the start of course. 

To apply for course exemptions, or for admission to a higher year, you must have successfully completed more than one year of higher education, with subjects in business, management, logistics, finance, or communication. You must provide official transcripts of grades (stamped by the institute of higher education), with detailed course descriptions and reading list.

All courses and examinations will be in English, so you need a good command of spoken and written English.

The level required for admission should be an equivalent of the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.0 or higher, or TOEFL iBT score of 80 or higher, or diploma’s such as:

Cambridge Advanced (CAE) Grade C (180 - 184)

Cambridge Proficiency (CPE)

Greek high school diploma (Apolytirio Genikou Lykeio), with a general grade of at least 16 and a grade of at least 17 for Mathematics.

The application procedure also includes a course selection check. This check helps you choose the right course, which increases your chances of study success. The course selection check consists of a (Skype) call resulting in a recommendation from HAN.

In general it will be your own responsibility to find accommodation. Rental prices for a student room vary from €300 to €500 per calendar month. However, you will most commonly find rooms to rent for around € 400. Make sure you book a room in time (preferably in the early spring), so you have the best chances to find the room that suits your wishes. Unfurnished rooms can be cheaper to rent than furnished ones.

Greek (EU) students do not have a guaranteed room on campus, but can contact the HAN Housing Office by email for a place on the campus Housing waiting list.

Medium-sized and larger international organizations often have vacancies for communication graduates, usually in marketing or communication departments. Advisory positions are another possibility: for example in government institutions such as municipalities and ministries. There is also a need for communication graduates in publishing houses, PR companies, advertising agencies, media agencies and corporate communication bureaus.

The Bachelor of Arts degree, qualifies you for middle and higher management positions. Our graduates usually begin their career on an operational and tactical level within the field of international communication. This includes jobs such as: marketing communication officer - communication officer - junior public relations officer etc. Within 5 years, our graduates are often able to advance into more tactical and strategic positions. These include jobs such as: international corporate communication manager -international marketing communication manager -senior account manager -public relations manager

With a Bachelors diploma from HAN University of Applied Sciences, you can continue doing a Master’s program at a Research University. If you want to do this abroad, you can usually start straightaway. If you have done your minor at a research university in the Netherlands during the third year of your studies at the HAN University of Applied Sciences, you can get direct access to a Master’s program at a research university in the Netherlands as well. If not, Dutch research universities offer bridging program to prepare HAN Bachelors students for a Masters course.
